An old gate marks the front of the Galisteo graveyard. Many of the tombstones are 100 years old. Historic old towns like this in New Mexico have a rich Spanish history. With the primary religion being Catholic, cemeteries like this are quite common in New Mexico. This is one of the most elaborate, with carved wooden markers and elaborate stone statuary.
