Marine Corps Memorial

On the way back to your hotel, John stops by one final monument. It is dark now, and the flag waving above the Iwo Jima Statue seems to be afire from the way the spotlights are hitting it. This 78-foot memorial commemorates all the marines who have died in battle since 1775.

You leave the memorial and return to your hotel. You are already planning to see more museums tomorrow and you have decided that you want to try Ethiopian cuisine in the Adams-Morgan section of town. And don't forget the shopping you wanted to do. There is a Nordstrom's near the hotel.
